We are looking for (2) two volunteers from the WAGGGS Volunteer Pool and Network to share collaboration in a 4-month long role, to review and update the WAGGGS Succession Planning Toolkit, this update will help strengthen leadership continuity across the Movement.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a global resource, strengthen your leadership development skills, and collaborate with volunteers and staff from across the organisation.
About the role
This is a major volunteer role with an expected duration of 4 months (July –October 2026). The purpose is to update the existing Succession Planning Toolkit so that it fully reflects:
- The Girl Guide/Girl Scout Leadership Model, and
- The Volunteer Engagement Framework.
The updated toolkit will support both Member Organisations (MOs) and the WAGGGS Global Team in planning leadership transitions and strengthening continuity in key roles.
Volunteers will collaborate with each other and with the Volunteer Engagement Team for guidance and alignment.
Key tasks
- Review the current Succession Planning Toolkit.
- Integrate the GG/GS Leadership Model and the Volunteer Engagement Framework into the content.
- Update content, examples, guidance, and templates as needed, making the resource R.E.A.L, considering Meaningful Youth Participation (MYP) and Growing and Learning (GAL) approaches.
- Provide and include recommendations to ensure the toolkit is practical, accessible, inclusive, and aligned with current WAGGGS practices.
- Deliver a final, ready‑to‑use, Succession Planning Toolkit.
Who can apply
This opportunity is open to volunteers in the Volunteer Pool and Network who:
- Have experience or interest in volunteer management, organisational leadership development, MYP and/or GAL.
- Have skills in resource editing and creation.
- Ability to review and critically assess existing content.
- Have experience working on the topic of succession planning.
- Are comfortable writing in English.

- July – October (Approx. 4 months)
- Flexible hours, remote collaboration across time zones.
