The Africa Fundraising Incubator (AFI) is a new initiative by the New Africa Fund, aimed at empowering African NGOs to address the need for funding and fundraising expertise.

This program is meant to help grassroots African organizations learn the skills needed to raise diverse funding and mobilize the resources already available in their own communities.

Selected organizations will start with an online training program focused on small donor campaigns. They will then put their skills into action during a 30-day fundraising challenge, with the opportunity to secure up to $5,000 USD in matching funds.

Top-performing organizations will be invited to Kigali, Rwanda, for a week-long intensive workshop covering critical aspects of fundraising - including financial management, marketing, communications, grant writing, donor research, cultivation and retention, individual donor campaigns, and local fundraising strategies.

The next open call for the AFI Program is from July 14th to August 14th, 2026.

The AFI will hold an informational webinar on July 13th at 12:00 UTC to explain the program, application process, eligibility, and timeline. You can register for the webinar here: Sign Up for the Informational Webinar About the Africa Fundraising Incubator
