The LEO Foundation Education and Awareness Grant Programme offers support to philanthropic activities and projects in Denmark that strengthen future research talent within medicine, chemistry, and pharmacy while increasing public awareness and understanding of science, skin health, and skin diseases.
The grants support activities that spur interest and strengthen the capabilities of children and young people within STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), disseminate research-based knowledge to the public, increase public awareness about science and its role in developing society, and promote public knowledge and understanding about skin, skin health, and skin diseases.
The proposed activity or project must have a clear philanthropic aim and must be carried out in Denmark. Only one application per call may be submitted by an applicant, and only the first submitted application will be evaluated if multiple applications are received. Each application may have only one main applicant and one host organization that receives all funding.
The Foundation covers directly related expenses including salary, specified operating costs, travel, publication costs, and administrative costs of up to 5% of the budget. Funding is available for grants below DKK 1 million through a full application process. Applications for DKK 1 million and above begin with a pitch stage, and invited stage-two applications may be required to be submitted in English.
A full application for grants below DKK 1 million may be written in Danish or English and must include a project description of up to six pages excluding appendices. The application should provide the project title, applicant and host organization information, a layman summary describing the purpose, planned activities, and expected outputs, the purpose and key aims, target groups and expected impact, a description of the project or activity, the parties involved and their contributions, plans for future anchoring and wider sharing of results, and a detailed budget showing directly related costs and the amount requested.
Projects lasting more than 12 months must distribute costs across project years. If support is requested for activities that may generate revenue, the business case and estimated revenue must be described, and any revenue must be reinvested in the project budget. Applicants must also provide CVs of the applicant and any co-applicants, limited to two pages each, as well as support letters from involved organizations, limited to one page per letter.
