Girl Guiding in Trinidad and Tobago started in 1914 and the 1st meeting was held at St. Ann’s Church Hall, Oxford Street, Port-of-Spain on 8th June 1914.  The Association became an Associate Member of the WAGGGS on 8 July 1963 and a Full Member on 8 July 1969. GGATT adheres to the principles laid down in the Promise and Law. Membership is voluntary, and open to girls and women without discrimination as to race, religion or any other circumstances provided they are prepared to make the Promise. GGATT is non-political in the sense that as a body it abstains from any form of party political activity. Our Association is divided into Eighteen (18) Divisions for management purposes.  Each Division is managed by a Division Commissioner. These Divisions are further divided into 3 to 5 Districts, and each is managed by a District Commissioner. East District has 5 to 8 Units. Unit can be Brownie Guide Packs, Junior Guide/Senior Guide/Ranger Guide Companies. The President of GGATT is responsible for Management and Business and leads the Non-Uniformed Section of GGATT. The Chief Commissioner is responsible for the Uniformed Section.
