WAGGGS is seeking enthusiastic and skilled volunteers to join our Capacity Building Volunteer team serving as CAT Consultants.
Background
WAGGGS Capacity Building Assessment Tool (CAT 2.0) supports national Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting associations to understand their own organisational capacity as measured against an organisational capacity model. The tool helps them to identify strengths and areas that could benefit from development and growth. The CAT 2.0 is organised into five themed sections, the tool covers the following aspects of organisational activity:
The Capacity Building space in Campfire provides a range of resources to help and support the MOs on the CAT.
Opportunity
Are you familiar with the WAGGGS Capacity Assessment Tool (CAT), either its current version or previous editions?
CAT Consultants work directly with the leadership of Member Organisations, supporting them in using the tool to assess their organisational capacity, identify strengths and areas for development, and plan their next steps.
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- An understanding of different organisational structures and strategies within Member Organisations.
- Knowledge of the regional context of the Africa, Arab or Asia Pacific Region.
- The ability to facilitate and support organisational change.
- Experience working at the national level of a Member Organisation.
- Strong facilitation skills, including the ability to navigate challenging conversations and provide neutral, constructive perspectives.
- Fluency in:
- French and English (Africa Region),
- Arabic and English (Arab Region),
- Spanish and English, (Western Hemisphere Region) or
- English (Asia Pacific Region).
Commitment
The working language is English, and the initial appointment is for 12 months. The time commitment will vary depending on the volume of support requests and the capacity of the CAT Consultant team. Most of the role is carried out remotely through online meetings and collaboration.
Where travel is required and funding is available, arrangements will be made in line with WAGGGS’ travel policy. In most cases, travel opportunities will involve facilitating CAT sessions with Member Organisations.

- Good reporting skills and a willingness to provide regular updates and feedback to the Volunteer Lead.
- The ability to adapt your approach to different cultural contexts and organisational needs.
- Reliable internet access and confidence in working collaboratively in a virtual environment.
- An understanding of diversity and the recognition that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach across regions, sub-regions and Member Organisations.
