Call for Participants – WAGGGS Programmes Champions Training (Europe Region)

 

Are you passionate about strengthening the impact of WAGGGS Programmes in your region? Do you enjoy supporting others, facilitating learning, and helping programmes thrive within Member Organisations?

As part of its commitment to strengthening the sustainability, quality, and regional ownership of WAGGGS Programmes, we are launching the WAGGGS Programmes Champions Training and invites motivated volunteers from Member Organisations to apply.

This training is a key moment and a starting point to become a WAGGGS Programme Champion in the Europe Region and a WAGGGS International Facilitator. Upon successful completion of the training, you will receive your WAGGGS International Facilitator Scarf and the WAGGGS Programmes Champion Pin. You will also have the opportunity to take the next step in your leadership journey by progressing to the WAGGGS International Facilitator Trainee pathway, while continuing your growth and further strengthening your programme management competencies through practical experience, peer to peer learning and mentoring support.

Please note that this call is intended for applicants from the Europe Region. If you are from another WAGGGS Region, we encourage you to keep an eye out for future opportunities, as similar Programmes Champion trainings will be offered in other regions in due course.

 

1. Key Information About the Training

 

  • Dates:  3-6 September 2026 (including travel days)
  • Location: The training will take place in person. The host country and venue are currently being finalised and will be communicated in due course.
  • Training Language: English (French interpretation will be provided if needed)
  • Who you'll meet: A carefully selected cohort of 20 participants from across the region, chosen based on their experience, potential, and commitment to supporting WAGGGS programmes. 
  • What to expect: Interactive workshops, practical facilitation experience, peer learning, networking opportunities, and plenty of fun along the way
  • Costs: All training-related costs, including travel, accommodation, meals, and programme expenses, will be covered by the WAGGGS Global Programmes Fund

     

2. Purpose of the Training 

 

The WAGGGS Programmes Champions Training aims to develop and organise a pool of regional volunteers who can support the promotion, delivery, and sustainability of WAGGGS Programmes. They Champions will serve as Ambassadors in their own Member Organisations and in the Region by supporting other MOs when needed. By joining the WAGGGS Programmes Champions Training, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  1. Strengthen your leadership practice needed to inspire and support others. 
  2. Build your confidence as a facilitator, learning how to lead engaging learning experiences and create meaningful participation. 
  3. Develop practical programme management skills, from planning and delivery to monitoring, evaluation, and measuring impact. 
  4. Become a trusted support person for Member Organisations (MOs) in your region, helping them deliver high-quality and sustainable WAGGGS programmes. 
  5. Connect and collaborate with peers from across the region, sharing ideas, learning from different experiences, and building a strong network of programme leaders. 
  6. Grow as a mentor and changemaker, supporting and inspiring future WAGGGS Programmes Champions to continue expanding the impact of our programmes.

     

3. Who Can Become a WAGGGS Programmes Champion

 

Becoming a WAGGGS Programmes Champion is an opportunity to develop your leadership, connect with peers from across the region, and support Member Organisations in delivering life-changing programmes. 

To embark on this exciting journey, applicants are expected to meet the essential requirements outlined below. These criteria ensure that participants have the foundation needed to fully engage in the training and successfully contribute as WAGGGS Programmes Champions.

In addition, we have identified several desirable qualifications that would be considered an added value. While these are not mandatory, they may strengthen your application and demonstrate your readiness to take on the role.

Desirable

  1. Must be 18 years old and above
  2. Active member or volunteer of a WAGGGS Member Organisation (MO)
  3. Endorsed by your MO to the WAGGGS Global Volunteer Pool and Network (if not a member yet)
  4. Experience or interest in programme delivery, facilitation, training, meaningful youth participation, advocacy, or programme-related ‘take action’ projects
  5. Have a sound basic understanding of non-formal education
  6. Commitment to WAGGGS Girl Guide/Girl Scout leadership model
  7. Willingness to support MOs in programme training facilitation, implementation, monitoring, and regional learning and connection for at least 3 years
  8. Interest to train and develop new programmes champions in the future
  • Active member of the WAGGGS Global Volunteer Pool & Network 
  • Have completed the WAGGGS International Facilitation training
  • Managed/led at least 1 WAGGGS Global Programme in the last 5 years
  • Experience in working with the region or with WAGGGS Global Team in delivering training or implementing programmes and activities

4. Application Deadline

Successful applicants will be notified following the review and selection process before the end of July. Further details on timelines and next steps will be shared with selected participants.
