Last month, the World Board came together for a four-day in-person meeting at Pax Lodge, in London UK. Governance was a major focus, with feedback from the Governance Review consultation helping to shape decisions on motions for the 39th World Conference this year.
An update on the 39th World Conference, we are continuing to closely review recent developments between Cambodia and Thailand and will provide an update by the end of January on our mitigation plans. Until then, registrations for the 39th World Conference remain on hold.

39th WORLD CONFERENCE UPDATES
World Board Nominations, Information Sessions 
Nominations for the World Board are open until 9 February 2026. We encourage you to review the nominations pack, which provides key details about the role, responsibilities, skills and expertise we are seeking in new World Board members.
We are hosting an information session on Saturday 17th and 18th January 2026, open to potential nominees and Member Organisations.
This session will give you a clear insight into the role and work of a World Board member, explain the skills and experience needed, and provide an opportunity to ask any questions about the nomination process.

Meet the 39th World Conference Chairing Team
After an open call in August 2025 through the WAGGGS Volunteer Network, which welcomed applications from young women aged 18–29, we received over 60 applications.
We are delighted to introduce Phoebe Wang from Hong Kong as the proposed Chair of the 39th World Conference! Phoebe will be supported by Fiona Lejosne (France) and Ghofrane Ben Hamed (Tunisia) from the World Board, who will serve as Vice-Chairs.
We look forward to seeing the energy, creativity, and leadership Phoebe and the team will bring to the World Conference.
Host the 40th World Conference in 2029
Hosting the World Conference offers a unique opportunity to welcome 400 – 500 participants from across our global Movement and shine a spotlight on your Member Organisation. We are now inviting expressions of interest to Host the 40th World Conference in 2029.
The deadline to submit interest is 31 January 2026.
