Once you have developed your fundraising strategy and your case for support and planned for cultivating your existing networks, you are ready to start planning your approaches to new funders!
The first step in this process, for any type of donor, is always careful research, as this will greatly increase your chances of success. Read their guidelines (if they have them), review their giving history, research their areas of interest and check if you have any existing contacts. Make sure your organisation and your programme/project understands the donor’s needs and then uses the tools that are most appropriate for that specific donor.
