The QLD Safe Futures Grants program provides funding to community organisations in Queensland to support primary prevention initiatives addressing the drivers of domestic, family and sexual violence through community-led, intersectional projects offered at no cost to the target population.
The Safe Futures Grants program was established by the Queensland Government to address the underlying drivers of domestic, family and sexual violence through a focus on primary prevention. The initiative recognises the importance of community-led, locally tailored solutions that engage those most impacted by violence and discrimination, particularly in regional, rural and remote areas of Queensland.
A total of $7 million is available. Scoping grants provide up to $30,000, while Delivery grants offer up to $600,000 for designing, delivering and evaluating prevention initiatives.
Funding is available through two streams: Scoping grants, which support smaller community-based organisations to undertake engagement, research, and capacity building activities in preparation for larger projects; and Delivery grants, which enable eligible organisations to design, deliver and evaluate comprehensive primary prevention initiatives. The program prioritises projects that are intersectional, community-focused, and that build on existing prevention and healing efforts.
Eligible activities include community engagement, consultation, research, relationship and capacity building, professional development, technical support, and the design and evaluation of prevention initiatives. All funded projects must be delivered in Queensland, offered at no cost to the target population, and include evaluation components to assess outcomes. Applicants are required to demonstrate safe processes for responding to disclosures of violence and are encouraged to build partnerships with relevant stakeholders and experts.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, incorporated associations, Indigenous corporations, Queensland universities, state-run schools and hospitals, and local government authorities. Joint applications are permitted with an eligible lead organisation, while for-profit businesses are not eligible.
