The Bank Fund Program by Bank of Maldives supports sustainable and innovative community projects that contribute to social and environmental well-being across the Maldives.
The programme focuses on education, community development, environment, and sports. It supports projects that are economically sustainable, capable of generating revenue for long-term viability, and designed to create positive social or environmental impact through responsible actions and values.
Under the initiative, five winning projects will be selected annually, with each project receiving funding of MVR 200,000. The programme encourages innovative ideas that address community needs while ensuring environmental and social responsibility in project implementation.
Bank Fund is seeking projects that can demonstrate long-term sustainability and meaningful benefits for society. Projects must be implemented responsibly and should not create negative impacts on communities or the environment. The initiative places strong emphasis on sustainable development and community-centered solutions.
The opportunity is open to local non-governmental organizations, clubs, and associations. Individuals, government bodies, state-funded institutions, business entities, and organisations funded by the government are not eligible to apply. Employees of Bank of Maldives and their immediate family members are also excluded from participation. Applicants must have a bank account with Bank of Maldives or should have applied to open one before the project is awarded.
Project proposals will be evaluated by a panel selected by the Bank of Maldives. Applications will be assessed based on the applicant’s background and experience, positive impact on the community, technical, operational and financial feasibility, and the sustainability plan. The sustainability and feasibility components together account for the highest percentage in the evaluation process.
