The Girl Guide Association of Barbados recently hosted a Stop The Violence training event, which took place from 25-28 August 2026 and welcomed twenty participants from Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago and Guyana.
The training was co-led by WAGGGS’ global team, and built knowledge, confidence and practical skills in gender-based violence prevention and advocacy.
The Girl Guide Association of Barbados was able to secure funding from National Peace Programme to enable the training to take place. The government’s National Peace Programme in Barbados is a crime prevention initiative aimed at reducing violence, fostering social stability, and reforming criminal justice through community-focused and holistic approaches.
National Peace Programme recognised the value of the training event in contributing to its violence-reduction initiatives with girls and young women aged 11-25, and their funding specifically supported the violence-prevention component of the training.
