Circular 1

Chris Wong • جي إف واي

Dear Members,

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts together with the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) are thrilled to share with you further information on the 15th Asia Pacific Regional Conference to be held in India from 19-23 August 2025.

The Regional Conference is a key opportunity to come together for one of our most important governance events. During the Conference, we will develop future regional strategies, align our service delivery plan with the needs, interests, and priorities of Member Organisations, and work together to explore tools and resources to expand Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting within our Region. We will share best practices, learn from each other, and make new connections.

Together with the 15th Regional Conference, Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS (FAPW) will be organising their next Gathering, while some conference activities will invite the attendance of FAPW. Additionally, we will host a one-day pre-conference event focused on empowering young women in governance on 18 August 2025.

We greatly value your active partnership and careful judgement in identifying talented, versatile and passionate women to join the WAGGGS Global Team at the regional level. Should you have an outstanding volunteer with the vision, skills and dedication to serve our Movement at the regional level, please review the materials enclosed and consider submitting a nomination. Reflecting on Motion 3 passed at the 37th World Conference in July 2021 that as far as practicable every newly elected Regional Committee should have at least two members under the age of 30, please ensure that you also consider young women under thirty when reviewing possible nominees.

If you or someone in your Member Organisation is interested in standing for the Regional Committee, the Nominations Committee is running a cross-regional information session as follows:

14 December 2024, from 11.00 UTC to 12.30 UTC - Register here

This session aims to clarify any questions potential candidates might have with regard to the Terms of Reference, the role, work and tasks of a Regional Committee member and the nominations process.  We ask individuals to pre-register for this session so that we can ensure we have appropriate resources in place.

If you have any questions, please contact [email protected].
