The Impact of OB-PS Donations

Income for WAGGGS’ Work Worldwide

The primary goal of OB-PS is to raise funds for the work of WAGGGS and its Member Organizations.  In the past 20 years, £9.4 Million has been raised through the addition of new members and the ongoing generosity of members, with the amount raised steadily growing during this time. In addition, interest on the endowment fund, reflecting past membership donations, continues to generate income. This investment income contributed an additional £2.7 Million between 2004 and 2023.

Thus, the contribution of the Olave Baden-Powell Society and its members has totalled £ 12.1 Million between 2004 and 2023.

By the end of OB-PS’ first 20 years, it was evident that many OB-PS members were keen to continue supporting WAGGGS and to be part of building a brighter future for girls and young women everywhere. This growing interest led OB-PS to work closely with WAGGGS to identify meaningful opportunities for willing donors. A partial list of these developments is set out below.

OB-PS Invests in Impact

In 2012, it was estimated that 250 million girls’ and young women’s lives had been transformed, through the leadership and skills development, community action and advocacy of the Girl Guide/Girl Scout Movement. By 2024, at least another 50 million girls and young women have gained skills, knowledge and experience through Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, that will contribute to a brighter future.
OB-PS has invested in all these projects and programmes, directly or indirectly.

The investment has been well managed and is returning impressive results.
Whether we are thinking of a young member, learning about caring for her environment, girls working together to better their community, or young women advocating on behalf of issues they care about, WAGGGS and its Member Organizations are giving them tools and experience they need.
WAGGGS is empowering girls and young women all over the world to shape the future they want to see.
