.

The Global Advocacy Programme is a key initiative by the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). It supports young women, aged 18 to 30, to become strong leaders and speak up for gender equality, girls’ rights, and social justice.

Through this programme, young women learn about global issues like education, gender-based violence, mental health, and climate change. They build the skills they need to speak clearly, confidently, and powerfully especially when it comes to raising their calls to action.

Participants are trained to influence decision-makers in their countries and at the global level. They write and share clear messages, speak in meetings, run campaigns, and use their voices to demand real change for girls and young women everywhere.

The programme also gives them the opportunity to attend high-level events, such as the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York. There, they take part in youth-led panels, speak to global leaders, and share the voices and experiences of girls from around the world.

The Global Advocacy Programme creates a network of passionate, skilled, and active young women who are leading the way toward a more fair, safe, and equal world.

Get Involved

Each year, the Global Advocacy Programme selects a group of passionate young women to join the Global Advocacy Network as Global Advocacy Champions.

These champions are young women aged 18 to 30 who care deeply about gender equality, girls’ rights, and making a real impact through advocacy and leadership. They represent their national Girl Guide or Girl Scout organisations and work both locally and globally to raise awareness and influence decision-makers.

What to expect:

  • A chance to learn about global issues and advocacy tools
  • Opportunities to connect with other young leaders around the world
  • Training and support to raise your voice and lead change
  • The possibility to take part in global events, including those at the United Nations

How to apply:
Applications usually open in July, and the selection process takes place between October and November. Interested candidates will need to complete an online form, share their motivation, and receive support from their national Girl Guide or Girl Scout organisation.
