Stop the Violence:
Voices Against Violence
Taking a decolonial and rights based approach, Stop the Violence is WAGGGS’ global flagship campaign to end violence against girls and women. Launched in 2011, the campaign is working towards the prevention and elimination of violence against girls and women through EDUCATION, AWARENESS RAISING, LOBBYING, POLICY & RESEARCH and COMMUNITY ACTION. Girl Guides and Scouts around the world are taking action in their schools, local communities and across their countries.
Stop the Violence
The Stop the Violence programme consists of a 4 day training where leaders are trained on how to use the Voices Against Violence curriculum and how to create strategic advocacy campaigns. Participants engaging in the programme will gain better knowledge on the underlying causes of violence against girls and women, understand the impact of harmful gender stereotypes, why consent matters, understanding different forms of violence, healthy relationships, safeguarding, psychological first aid; as well as understanding what advocacy is, how to create strategic campaigns, understanding and utilising international human rights law and mechanisms, how to identify who to target with campaigns, how to speak to decision makers, how to use media and communications, create a vision and mission and how to monitor and evaluate campaigns.
Voices Against Violence
The Voices Against Violence non-formal curriculum gives young people the tools to identify different types of violence and the confidence to speak out. It is a key prevention tool aimed at changing mindsets while girls and boys are still young. The curriculum seeks to stop violence at its root by tackling gender inequality and empowering young people to be agents of change
This curriculum was developed by WAGGGS and UN Women, with input from 20 pilot Member Organisations and two WAGGGS World Centres. It has been developed for worldwide use and can be delivered to girl-only or co-educational groups from the ages of 5 to 25 years. It provides a wide variety of activities that can be selected to respond to different contexts, learning needs, and objectives.
Voices against Violence provides interactive, child- and youth-centred ways for young people to talk about relationships, gender equality and abuse, within a safe and supportive environment.

🫂 Raise awareness
Your voice is a powerful tool for creating change. Use it to tell your friends about the Stop the Violence campaign and speak out for girls’ rights. We want people to not only know about the issue but to understand it, so that they can go on to take action. Find out more.
📢 Speak Out
Girl Guides and Girl Scouts' standing in the community means we're in a great position to lobby to end violence. Lobbying is a form of advocacy, sometimes easier to think of as "speaking out" directly to decision-makers, with specific demands in mind.
🙋🏼♀️Take Action
Whether you are an individual or a Member Organisation, we can support you in developing your own campaign to stop violence against girls and young women. Take action to solve the root causes of violence in your community and create social change.
