Girl Guides of Ghana Bid

World Conference Team • 7 Julio 2023

👩 MO Information:

Most of the guiding in Ghana is an extracurricular school-based activity, which is more prudent because it correlates with our 8-point programme. In the numerous schools where guiding is practised, teachers and adult leaders serve as primary trainers and supervise guides.

The MO has implemented several innovative programmes, including free digital marketing training for girls and young women, training in social entrepreneurship, advocacy programmes, and the construction of a reproductive hygiene management office at our headquarters, among others.

We currently have over 190,000 guides as members. We are constantly searching for new opportunities for the MO and its members, given its size. One of these possibilities involves hosting a sizable conference. Given that the majority of attendees are kind, sponsoring this event allows our Rangers, Cadets, and Young Leaders to experience a WAGGGS Regional Conference firsthand.

As a MO, we have had the opportunity to host a variety of international events, and we have been gracious hosts who have executed our role as hosts so well that we have left an enduring impression on those who have had the privilege of participating.

We have had the privilege of hosting a number of international events, which we have accomplished with dignity and diligence. In 2005, the Africa Regional Conference was convened in Accra.

In 2010, we also held a meeting of the Africa Regional Committee for the executive committee. Fit for Work, Fit for Life (2015), Juliette Low Seminar 2016, launch of the 5th World Centre (2016), STV Training of Trainers (2018), Helen Storrow Pop-Up Seminar (2021), Social Entrepreneurship Training in Partnership with WGF (2021), and Turner Tide Plastic Challenge Badge Training are among the international trainings we have hosted.

In addition, the MO has hosted international camps, including South-South activities (beginning in 2006 and ending in 2019), the International Centenary Camp (2022), NIGATOBE (2022), and YESS (2020, 2021, 2023).

Internally, we have organized and carried out fundraising events, trainings, projects, and membership-related initiatives successfully.
