Fundraising Tips

Catherine Harris • 4 Julio 2025

•    Use the language of joining and belonging
•    How you speak & body language matters
•    Be interested - and be interesting
•    Ask Open-ended questions
•    Questions starting with "Why", "How" or "Tell me about" will elicit most meaningful information.  Some examples:
•    Tell me what concerns you most about girls’ rights.
•    How do you decide on what charities you will support?
•    Tell me how you would like to make an impact on our community’s future.
•    What are your aspirations for your daughters/granddaughters?
•    Tell your own story:  Who set an example of generosity for you?

Think about How We want Donors to Feel:

Important: Donor senses authenticity in the relationship with you.
Valued: “We are calling you because…”
Like an Insider: Giving them access to information they wouldn’t otherwise have known.
Confident:  Help them understand that their gift to OB-PS will support meaningful change.
Inspired:  Feel they are part of something bigger than themselves.  Their contribution has positive impact.

Key thing to Remember: Don't take it personally if people say no.
