The World Centres provide a safe place where Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from around the world can connect, have adventures and build agency. Each World Centre provides a unique environment to empower young women with the confidence and leadership skills to create a better world.

Travelling to the World Centres frequently asked questions

Each World Centre has more details of how to become a volunteer:
Yes! We have scholarships and travel grants available for those interested in attending our upcoming volunteering programmes.
The World Centre will provide you with all meals, accommodation, uniform, use of self-service laundry facilities and wifi access in designated areas on site for the duration of your stay.
You will need to cover your travel costs, souvenirs, & things you want to do in your free time. If you are worried about money, you should look into financial assistance options. You may also be able to apply for assistance from your national Guide/Scout Organisation or local community organisations.
- Our Chalet:
- Full season volunteer (3 month volunteer leadership placement) and Specialist volunteers (Programme, Guest Services, Kitchen, and Marketing & Communications): Our Chalet has a scholarship fund that you can apply to for travel assistance. Depending on where you are travelling from, we are usually able to offer travel scholarships of CHF 500 ā 1000.
- Short Term Volunteers (2-4 week placement): Our Chalet is not able to provide travel scholarships for Short Term Volunteers.
- Pax Lodge:
- Pax Lodge volunteers: Pax Lodge has a travel bursary fund that you can apply to for travel assistance upon your arrival in London.
- Nuestra CabaƱa:
- Nuestra CabaƱa volunteers: For those offered an onsite volunteer position, if they need financial support, they can apply for a scholarship from WAGGGS for costs associated with volunteering. Their request will be reviewed and either a full, partial or no scholarship will be granted.
- Sangam:
- Sangam volunteers and Marketing & Communications volunteer: Depending on where you are travelling from, we will be able to offer up to £600 towards the cost of your visa and flight.
- Kusafiri:
- U4SDGs Ambassador and Lead Change (April 2025): We are excited to offer event fee scholarships and /or travel grants for participants from select countries in the Asia Pacific and Africa Regions. Check the application form to see if your country qualifies! However, if you are not eligible for a grant, donāt worryāyou can still join us by fully funding your own travel and event fee (Ā£550).
In addition, Our Chalet has other scholarships :
- Event scholarships: to cover Participation Fee or Travel Expenses. Application form here.
- Cheryl A Watkins Trust: for women aged 60+ and have proof of 20+ years of participation or service in Girl Guides/ Girl Scouts. More information here.
