WAGGGS MEDAL OF SERVICE
The WAGGGS Medal of Service is the highest form of recognition that WAGGGS can bestow.
The WAGGGS Volunteer Medal of Service is awarded to individuals who have distinguished themselves in their outstanding service to Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting both national and world levels, and whose service is considered to be exceptional, noteworthy and/or extraordinary in nature. To be eligible, an individual must have held a voluntary position within WAGGGS (at regional and/or world level) and a Member Organisation, be “in good standing” with WAGGGS and have made an exceptional contribution in terms of time, expertise, talents, resources and/or influence to enable WAGGGS to achieve its Mission and/or Objectives.
The WAGGGS Staff Medal of Service is awarded to individuals whose service to Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is considered to be exceptional, noteworthy and/or extraordinary in nature, and deemed to be over and above what could normally be expected of an individual fulfilling that particular job/role. To be eligible, an individual must have held a paid position within WAGGGS or a Member Organisation, be “in good standing” with WAGGGS and have made an exceptional contribution in terms of time, expertise, talents, resources and/or influence to enable WAGGGS to achieve its Mission and/or Objectives.
WHAT IS THE SELECTION PROCESS?
Nominations may be submitted by a Member Organisation or by any member of the WAGGGS Global Team. Nominations should be made in confidence, without the knowledge of the individual.
If a member of the WAGGGS Global Team is making a nomination for a volunteer, they should ensure that it is endorsed by the International Commissioner or Chief Commissioner of the nominee’s MO.
The names of candidates nominated for the award are submitted to the World Board who are responsible for making the final decision.
Nominations can be submitted at any time, but if you would like to nominate someone to receive the WAGGGS Medal of Service at this coming World Conference, please complete the application form and send it to [email protected] by 31 May 2023 at the latest.
PRESENTATION OF THE AWARD
The presentation of the award is usually made at a World Conference, Regional Conference or another suitable event, as decided by the World Board.
