On behalf of the whole World Board, I am pleased to share with you a brief update from the recent meeting of the World Board held on 15 December.
Q3 2023 FINANCES
The World Board reviewed WAGGGS’s finances for the third quarter of 2023 (July-September, Q3) and is pleased to now share with you the Quarterly Financial Report which covers Q3 2023.
ACTION PLAN AND BUDGET 2024-2026
I am pleased to share with you that, at its December meeting, the World Board approved, by majority vote, WAGGGS’s three-year Action Plan and Budget for 2024-2026.
Building on the feedback received from Member Organisations, the Action Plan and Budget focuses on how WAGGGS can best deliver for, and support, the Movement. During the Member consultations held before and during World Conference, we heard three priorities:
- identity and unity of the Movement;
- strengthening the educational impact of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting; and
- meaningful global connections for girls and young women.
Since World Conference, we have reviewed WAGGGS’s offer in light of this feedback and the direction set by the WAGGGS Strategy 2024-2029 to reach operational sustainability. This new Action Plan and Budget pivots the organisation to more closely align with Member Organisation’s wishes and to attain financial sustainability.

GLOBAL UPDATE SESSIONS - SAVE THE DATE!
We would like to invite you to a special Global Update session on Saturday 3 February 2024, hosted by the Chair of the World Board and Chief Executive. This session is open to all and will reflect on some of the key highlights and achievements from 2023, as well as looking ahead to some of the exciting plans in the Action Plan and Budget for 2024-2026.
The session will be run twice on the same day:

EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING (EGM) - SAVE THE DATE!
Motion 12 passed at the 38th World Conference called for an Extraordinary General Meeting to look at changes in governance and the membership fee model.
The review of the membership fee model will start in January 2024, concluding with an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) on Saturday 14 September 2024 at which Member Organisations will have an opportunity to vote upon on a membership fee proposal. Any change in the current membership fee model would take effect from January 2025.
This piece of work will of course include consultation with Member Organisations. It is our aim to hold consultation sessions in language groups over the weekend of 6 and 7 April 2024. Member Organisations will also have an opportunity to provide written feedback
Further details about the EGM, and the timeline leading up to the meeting, will be shared in the next World Board update.
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR WAGGGS COMMITTEES
As shared in the last World Board update, we are looking for new committee members for the Audit, Finance and Risk Committee, Governance Committee, Nominations Committee and the People Committee to serve from early 2024 up to December 2026.
We encourage all Member Organisations to think about any of their members who they may wish to nominate. Building upon Motion 8 passed at the 38th World Conference, we are looking for a diverse team of volunteers who can offer their expertise, skills, energy, ideas and time to support the work of the World Board and WAGGGS.
