Girl Guides Association of Cambodia Bid

World Conference Team • جي إف واي

👩MO Infomation:

Our membership number is exceeding 2000+. When the First World Conference was held in Oxford in 1920, the girl guides movement started spreading around the world. Cambodian girls were so inspired, they decided to establish their own Girl Guides Association in 1953. We had been enthusiastically active in a number of WAGGGS programs and activities until the country was engaged in a bloody civil war.

In 1998, the first National Executive Committee was born and in the following year, Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk became Honourable Patron of the GGAC.

Finally in 2011, Girl Guides Association of Cambodia was accepted to become the official member of World Association Of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

In 2021 a new structure and leadership was formed within the organization, since then our MO has thrived and developed into a noteworthy organization, involved in many national and international events where young women were given all the opportunities to unlock their potential in a safe space environment.

Our MO is a girls organization exceeding 2000 members ranging from: 7-11 years old (Dragonfly), 12-17 years old (Ranger), 18-25 years old (Guides).

Throughout the year, our MO organizes activities focused on five key topics: Education, Environment, Health and Safety, Culture, Arts and Craft, and Engagement Activities. These activities offer opportunities to the underprivileged young girls to experience and enjoy the same advantages as most girls their age. We are determined to make the vision of Compass 2032: “An equal world where all girls can thrive” a reality.

We teach our young generation to give back to our planet by various activities, one of them is planting trees.

Allow us to briefly show you some of the activities that our MO have done over the past few years. From sport to art classes, from literature to outdoor activities, from mentoring to leadership development, these activities have enabled our young girls to reach their full potential and gain invaluable skills. They have also been able to use these opportunities to build relationships with their peers and find a sense of belonging in their communities.

Young people lighting torches
December 2022 GGAC has organized an annual camping activity with more than 200 members joining. Beside enjoying the beautiful scenery of a calm and quite forest, we also learned about team building, sharing life experiences, building trust and friendship where we aim to strengthen their interpersonal skills.
Young people learning to swim
During our health and safety activity month, GGAC has equipped our young girls with a lifetime skill of swimming and first aid training, where it can not only save their own life but the life of others as well.

Even though we are a small organization, we are fortunate to have a talented and experienced team of professionals working with us.

Below are our upcoming and past events:

  • November 2023: GGAC is proud to be the host of the Friends of Asia Pacific WAGGGS 7th General Assembly in Siem Reap Cambodia, where we are expecting approximately 100 participants. We look forward to welcoming our guests and making this an unforgettable event.
  • February 2023: GGAC has host a Fundraising Gala Dinner welcoming 600 guests.
  • December 2022: National Camping with more than 200 members from four different cities and provinces.

Our MO is made up of an accomplished and dedicated group of members, who come from diverse professional backgrounds and have extensive experiences in a wide range of sectors. Moreover, many of our GGAC members have become members of FAPW and OB-PS. We have attended numerous FAPW, OB-PS and WAGGGS events which has provided us with invaluable knowledge and insight from each of these organizations.

GGAC is privileged to have Her Majesty Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk as our Honourable Patron. Her Majesty has been recognized with the prestigious OB-PS Global Award, which is a testament to her unwavering commitment to make a positive impact in the world. In addition to Her Majesty, two of our esteemed senior members, Dr Tan Phally and our chief commissioner Dr. Pich Chanmony, have also been recognized with the OB-PS Global Award for their exceptional dedication and contributions to the organizations.

Our team members have showcased their strengths across all areas and we are confident that our MO can meet all the requirements of the World Conference in order to make it a memorable, successful and meaningful event.
