Dear friends,

Welcome to EGM Circular 8. In this circular, you will find information about:

  • Zoom Meeting Links for the EGM and EGM Preparatory Sessions:
  • World Board Response to Proposed Amendments
  • Explanation of Voting Outcomes for Motions and Amendments
  • Safeguarding and Listening Ears

Zoom Meeting Links for the EGM and EGM Preparatory Sessions:

We have shared the meeting links with the EGM attendees directly for the EGM preparatory sessions on Saturday 31 August and the EGM on Saturday 14 September.

The content of the Orientation Sessions will be the same at both, so you only need to attend one session.

Only individuals registered for the EGM will receive this link and will be able to attend the meeting. If someone tries to join the EGM that has not registered, they will be removed from the meeting. Please do not share the meeting links with others.

You can find useful information regarding the EGM Orientation Sessions, Global Discussion Forum, and the EGM in the Booking Pack and the Programme and Agenda documents.

World Board Response to Proposed Amendments:

The World Board thanks Member Organisations for submitting Proposed Amendments for consideration at the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM).

At World Conferences, the World Board expresses its opinion on Proposed Amendments prior to the voting sessions taking place. However, as the EGM is a single day virtual event, the World Board has chosen to share its reflections in advance to contribute constructively to the debate ahead of the EGM.  If MOs have any questions, they can email about these please email [email protected].

You can find all the World Board responses on Campfire here:

Explanation of Voting Outcomes

The Procedural Team has added a table to the EGM FAQs on Campfire to clarify the impact of voting for or against for each Proposed Motion and Proposed Amendment.

You can find this table under the Impact of Voting section in the FAQ document. Please click here to find the table:

Safeguarding and Listening Ears:

During the EGM, the Listening Ears volunteers will be the first point of contact for attendees for any safeguarding and wellbeing concerns. They will provide a welcoming, confidential, safe, brave, and non-judgmental environment for anyone who wishes to seek help proactively on behalf of themselves or others. If you have a Safeguarding concern, you can reach out to the Listening Ears team via direct message in the Zoom meeting. We will share the names of the Listening Ears team in due course.

WAGGGS’s Head of International Operations, Magdalene Thomas, is the Designated Safeguarding Lead during the EGM and can be contacted at [email protected].

The Procedural Team will be available for any procedural matters or questions via [email protected].
