Are you ready for the next step in your Girl Guide and Girl Scout adventure with WAGGGS Africa Region?

WE NEED YOU!

We are looking for passionate and committed volunteers with skills and experience to help implement the Africa Region's Three-Year Action Plan (2026-2028).

As a member of the Africa Region team, you will work alongside regional members, WAGGGS staff, and other volunteers in a collaborative environment to create a meaningful impact for girls and young women in the region.

Who can apply?

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Active members of a WAGGGS member organisation
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Able to communicate in English and/or French
  • Comfortable using online collaboration tools
  • Motivated to dedicate time and energy to the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts movement.
  • Interested in learning, developing, and contributing within a regional team.

About Volunteer Teams

  • Members of the Africa Regional Committee hold different portfolios, each contributing to the implementation of the Regional Action Plan (2026-2028).
  • Volunteer teams will work closely with portfolio managers and WAGGGS staff. Each team will be led by one or two volunteer leads who will guide the work and report on its progress to the portfolio manager.

What does this mean for you?

  • You will be part of a team working on specific areas of the action plan.
  • You will be expected to report on your work to your volunteer lead.
  • Lead volunteers will have additional responsibilities, including coordination and communication with the committee and WAGGGS staff.

Time Commitment

The time required for each role varies. Plan for approximately 10 to 15 hours per month on average.

Duration

Most positions are planned for the three-year period (2026-2028).

About the Roles

Volunteer Lead
  • Work closely with the portfolio manager and relevant staff to plan and deliver work.
  • Coordinate and motivate the volunteer team.
  • Provide individual support to team members and hold regular check-ins.
  • Participate in quarterly coordination meetings with other volunteer leads.

Working Group Team Members
  • Contribute to specific areas of the regional action plan.
  • Work under the supervision of a senior volunteer.
  • Tasks and time commitment may vary over the three-year period.

How to Apply

Step 1: Join the WAGGGS Global Volunteer Pool

  1. The call for applications for the Global Volunteer Pool is always open; you can apply at any time! Join the WAGGGS Global Volunteer Pool
  2. Please complete the recommendation form (also attached to this message).
  3. Contact your International Commissioner or International Team for their approval (according to your member organisation's internal procedure).
  4. Submit your form: Please email the completed form to: [email protected]
  5. All our volunteers must be part of the Global Volunteer Pool.


Step 2: Apply via Campfire

Once your application is approved, you will receive an invitation to Campfire, our online platform.

  • On Campfire, you will find calls for applications for various working groups (2026-2028) as well as a PDF containing a detailed description of the working groups for which we are currently recruiting.
  • Complete this form to apply for the positions that interest you.

Please submit your form before February 10th.

Selection Process

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Africa Regional Committee.
  • Selection is based on skills, motivation, and suitability to regional needs.
  • Our goal is to communicate the results within two weeks of the application deadline.


Data Protection

All data collected during the recruitment process will be treated confidentially and disclosed only to those directly involved in the selection and placement of volunteers for the Africa region, primarily members of the Regional Committee and relevant staff.
You have the right to access the data we hold about you by contacting the Regional Manager. The data controller for this process is the Africa Regional Committee.
