Romi attended Getting Ready for World Conference ahead of the WAGGGS World Conference in Cyprus 2023.

“What stands out most to me was the simulation for the Word Conference—it was incredibly interactive and really helped set us on the right path. It gave us a practical understanding of what to expect and how to engage effectively. I also remember the friendships that were formed during the event. Building those early connections made the actual conference experience much smoother and more enjoyable, as I had already met and bonded with several participants.

“The event gave us a clear and practical understanding of the structure and flow of the World Conference, highlighting the importance of each segment and how everything fits together. Through the workshops and engaging discussions, we gained valuable insights into our roles as delegates. We were equipped with tools to create meaningful change and learned how to face obstacles head-on. Most importantly, the art of diplomacy was instilled in us—shaping the way we communicate, collaborate, and advocate on a global stage.

“The event gave me a strong sense of purpose and belonging. Seeing firsthand how young women can actively shape the future of WAGGGS was incredibly inspiring. It was a unique opportunity to build bridges with other leaders, share our visions, and find common ground. It empowered us to raise our voices and express our thoughts freely, knowing we were being heard without judgment. It made me feel that my contributions truly mattered.

“The experience has had a lasting impact on my leadership journey. It gave me the confidence to step into leadership roles with clarity and purpose. I’ve become more intentional in how I listen, collaborate, and advocate—not just within my local community but on a broader scale.

“I am now the Assistant of the General Commissioner in my organisation Guide du Liban, which is part of the Lebanese Federation and I am also a member of WAGGGS' Procedural Team for this term.

“For those attending the next event: Believe in the mission and vision of WAGGGS, and come with an open heart and mind. You'll meet young women from all around the world, each practicing leadership in ways that reflect their unique cultures, customs, and traditions. Embrace these differences—not just with acceptance, but with curiosity—because there’s so much you can learn from one another. This experience is not just about leading, but about growing together as global changemakers.

“Through this event, I found my voice, built friendships, and discovered the power of leadership on a global stage. This experience taught me that leadership looks different for young women everywhere, and that’s exactly what makes it powerful.

“Thank you to those who supported the event. Your contribution did more than fund an event, it created a life-changing experience. We now carry the skills and inspiration to shape a better future, not just for ourselves, but for our communities and beyond."
