In this section about “Meaningful Youth Participation in action” we will...

Set up your own Meaningful Youth Participation

- Next Steps
Based upon what you have learnt and reflected on during this course:
What will you do next?
Take a look again at the Padlet from the first section of the training, when we reflected on why meaningful youth participation is important in your role.
Now, take a moment to think about at least one concrete action that you will take to enable and/or enhance Meaningful Youth Participation in your area of work. Comment this action on your original post on the Padlet : https://padlet.com/WAGGGS/why-is-meaningful-youth-participation-importa…
Our Commitment
Throughout the course but especially in this section we have reflected on what we can do support young people’s meaningful participation in WAGGGS.
What this looks like is different for everyone in the organisation and wider Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting Movement. Depending on your role(s), how you can facilitate Meaningful Youth Participation in your area of work will vary.
However, if we each take the next steps that we have identified and improve Meaningful Youth Participation in our work, together we can take bigger steps towards our vision to be a Movement led by girls and young women.
To build a culture, to create opportunities, to follow the principles consistently we need to mainstream meaningful youth participation in all of our work across the Movement. Through intergenerational leadership, supporting each other and pushing each other to grow our practice we can ensure meaningful youth participation is a natural part of how we work at all levels of Girl Guiding/Girl Scouting.
This is the commitment the Movement made when it agreed on Compass 2032.
What is your part of this commitment?
Take a moment to reflect and come up with a personal pledge of how you will support girls’ and young women’s participation.
Below you can download a certificate to celebrate that you have completed this course and share your pledge to be a part of mainstreaming meaningful youth participation for a girls and young women led Movement.
We’d love to see photos of your certificates and pledges to add to our Inspiration Wall – if you are happy to share them you can email them to us at: [email protected].
