Her Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet First Lady of the Kingdom of Cambodia

Her Excellency Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet is the First Lady of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the spouse of Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. With a strong academic background in pharmacy and public health, she has devoted many years to humanitarian service, public health, youth development, women and family welfare, education, and social values.

Dr. Pich Chanmony currently serves in several important public and humanitarian roles, including as Permanent Vice President of the Cambodian Red Cross, Vice Chairwoman of the Samdech Techo Voluntary Youth Doctor Association (TYDA), Commissioner General of the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia, President of the Association of Samdech Techo and Samdech Kittipritthbandit Scholarship Students (AMT), Chairwoman of Smile Cambodia, Honorary President of the Cambodia Kantha Bopha Foundation, and Honorary President of the National Committee for the Promotion of Social Morality, Women’s Values and Khmer Families.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Pich Chanmony worked closely alongside Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, who at that time was Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, in supporting Cambodia’s national response. While Samdech Hun Manet helped mobilize coordination, discipline, and national forces in support of the people, Dr. Pich Chanmony drew on her public health background to support medicine and medical-supply coordination, mobilize medical volunteers, and encourage frontline health workers and youth volunteers. Their efforts reflected a shared spirit of duty, unity, and care for Cambodian families during one of the country’s most difficult public health crises.

Through her leadership in AMT, Dr. Pich Chanmony promotes education, gratitude, leadership, and social responsibility among Cambodian youth, reflecting her belief that education is both a personal opportunity and a duty to serve society. This same spirit of service is reflected in her longstanding efforts to support clean water, sanitation, and public health in remote communities, helping improve the daily lives of vulnerable families across Cambodia.

Dr. Pich Chanmony earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Health Sciences in Cambodia, a Master of Public Health from Boston University, and a Doctorate in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, with doctoral research focused on Community based Direct Observation of Treatment (CDOT) for tuberculosis in Cambodia.

Her commitment to humanitarian service began early in her academic life, where she demonstrated leadership as Vice-President of the Medical Student Association at the University of Health Sciences and contributed, as part of the Harvard Group, to public-health and mental-health research involving vulnerable refugee communities in Southeast Asia and the United States.

Balancing her roles as a wife, mother, and public leader, Dr. Pich Chanmony continues to serve the Cambodian people with compassion, humility, and dedication. As First Lady, she promotes a people-centered approach to public service, guided by strong family values, women’s dignity, youth empowerment, humanitarian care, and an unwavering commitment to the well-being of Cambodian families and communities.
