We are delighted to share with you further details about our World Conference in 2023.
As communicated on 28 October 2022, the World Board and the Girl Guides Association of Cyprus shared the dates of our upcoming 38th World Conference, 26 to 31 July 2023. During World Conference, Members will elect new World Board Members, decide the host of the 39th World Conference in 2026, and consider motions.
👋 Welcome from Girl Guides Association of Cyprus
With enthusiasm and a big smile, all the Guides of Cyprus – from our small Chrysalides and Butterflies to our Young Leaders and Commissioners – are getting ready to welcome you in Nicosia, 26 to 31 July 2023.
We are preparing to experience with you an unforgettable and unparalleled World Conference in the brightest capital of Europe. We aim to fulfill all the commitments we made, for the first sustainable WAGGGS World Conference. We wish to chart together the course for the future of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting. And we plan to introduce you to the beauties and warm hospitality of our island.

Planning Team
Do you love using Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting principles to share learning and broaden horizons? We need experienced and enthusiastic volunteers to join the World Conference Planning Team to plan and deliver the 38th World Conference in Cyprus.
You can find more information and the Terms of Reference for the positions available here. If you are interested in joining the Planning Team, fill the form before 23.59pm UTC on Sunday 8 January 2023.
👩💻 Call for Nominations
The enclosed nominations pack includes details of the role and responsibilities of World Board members, and the skills and experience we are looking for in our new World Board members. We encourage Member Organisations to begin thinking about any of their members who they may wish to nominate. Nominations will close at 23.59pm UTC on Tuesday 31 January 2023 and nomination forms received after this time will not be considered.
📢 Call for Proposed Motions
Member Organisations (MOs) can propose motions for discussion and voting at the World Conference.
Guidelines on how to write and submit a Proposed Motion and the Proposed Motions form are attached.
The deadline for Proposed Motions that require a change in the WAGGGS Constitution and Bye-Laws is 20 January 2023. The deadline for non-Constitutional Proposed Motions is 31 March 2023. If your Member Organisation is considering submitting a proposed motion and would like to discuss this with a member of the Procedural Team, please email them at [email protected] in good time before the relevant submission deadline.
📙 Call for Bids for the 39th World Conference
You will find attached details of the bidding process for the organisation of the 39th World Conference and an expression of interest form.
We look forward to hearing from those that are excited about this opportunity. The expression of interest form should be received by 31 January 2023.
📑 Circulars and Important Deadlines
Over the next 8 months, there will be many Circulars shared with important documents, dates and deadlines to remember. We have created a World Conference page on Campfire that includes a calendar for you. We will update this space as we work towards World Conference in July!
