In 2024, your support empowered WAGGGS to launch a new competency framework and training programme for facilitators, with a strong focus on globally competent facilitation. This initiative is designed to make high-quality training more accessible to members of the WAGGGS global team—equipping them with the skills they need to thrive in their roles. In turn, it strengthens our shared commitment to delivering meaningful, high-impact Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting experiences.
Over the years, WAGGGS has trained many volunteers and staff in facilitation principles and techniques, and the ever-growing pool of dedicated and passionate WAGGGS Facilitators around the world has delivered a huge range of regional and global learning opportunities, from larger scale leadership programmes like the Juliette Low Seminar to many smaller scale trainings and capacity development projects.
This model builds on well-regarded leadership theories in the world beyond Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and offers tools to work on leadership practice for all members of the Movement.
By creating a framework, WAGGGS can offer a more consistent standard of training and much clearer support to individuals to understand how to develop as facilitators and know what they are aiming for. It will help make sure that the training and mentoring offered results in facilitators who have the knowledge, skills and behaviours necessary to achieve the best results when facilitating for WAGGGS in different contexts.
In 2024 and early 2025 thanks to your support on Giving Day; WAGGGS delivered facilitator training to World Centre programme staff, Roverway volunteers (as part of the Europe Region event), and facilitators of the Juliette Low Seminar and Helen Storrow Seminar.
