Nominations for the Olave Award 2024-2026 are now open!
At the 39th World Conference, we will proudly present the Olave Award 2024–2026, to honour the memory of Lady Olave Baden-Powell and the spirit of service she championed.
This award is presented by WAGGGS at every World Conference to Girl Guide and Girl Scout groups that have created positive change in their communities, with a different theme chosen for each triennium.
The theme for this triennium is: "Intergenerational Leadership – From Youth Participation to Youth Leadership."
Aligned with Compass 2032, the theme encourages youth leadership through shared mentorship, collaboration, and youth-led decision making. Winning projects will:
- Promote girls and young women taking the lead on meaningful initiatives
- Drive shared leadership and decision-making at all levels
- Foster equality through sharing power, space, and resources between generations
Who can participate?
Girl Guide and Girl Scout groups with projects aligned to the theme that were active between 1st July 2023 and 30th November 2025, can submit their projects.
Each Member Organisation can select up to three groups to submit as nominees for the award and all nominated projects must have a supporting statement and the endorsement of their Member Organisation before being submitted.
How are projects evaluated?
Group projects can be of any length, of any size, and focus on any community group. They will be evaluated and scored according to seven criteria:
- Relevance (15% score weighting): Did the project match the theme of the award?
- Creativity (10% score weighting): Did the group find new and creative ways to work towards intergenerational leadership?
- Effectiveness (10% score weighting): How far did the project meet or exceed its objectives?
- Inclusive (15% score weighting): How inclusive was this project towards its stakeholders and how many people / target groups did the project reach?
- Impact (25% score weighting): How far has this project impacted the community?
- Sustainability (15% score weighting): Has the project created lasting and effective change?
- Group engagement (10% score weighting): How far did the girls and young women in the group take the lead in planning and running the project?
A panel of judges representing all five regions of WAGGGS will adjudicate.
