Help Shape the Next Chapter of Growing and Learning
Earlier this year, we launched Growing and Learning Part One: Policy and Concepts, marking a major step forward in strengthening quality learning and development across our Movement. Since the start of this journey, 43 Member Organisations have contributed to shaping this global framework.
Now, we are excited to announce the next step, the co-creation of Growing and Learning Part Two: Guidelines and Pathways, and we want you to be part of it!
A Quick Recap: What is Growing and Learning?
Part One: Policy and Concepts
Growing and Learning Part One describes the characteristics of quality Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting, defines our approach to learning and development, and identifies the growth outcomes all learning and development experiences in Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting should contribute to.
It includes WAGGGS’s latest thinking about the shared concepts at the heart of our Movement and extends them to support quality learning and development in a modern context.
Part Two: Guidelines and Pathways
Building on Part One, Growing and Learning Part Two will explore the growth outcomes in more depth at different stages and roles within Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting.
It will support Member Organisations to:
Adapt and apply the framework to their own youth and adult learning programmes
Strengthen quality standards in learning and development
Follow a clear process and checklist for WAGGGS accreditation of their learning and development frameworks
Timeline and Consultation Phases
The consultation process will take place in three key phases:
Phase One: Online short questionnaire (November-December 2025)
Phase Two: Online focus group discussions in regional groups (January-March 2026)
Phase Three: Online document review (April-May 2026)
Our goal is to launch Growing and Learning Part Two at the next World Conference.
Why This Consultation Matters
Your experience and insights are essential to make GAL Part Two a truly useful tool for our Movement. By participating in the consultation, you will be able to:
Shape the content of a global framework that will support quality learning and development in your MO.
Ensure it reflects real needs and priorities from across the Movement.
Strengthen your organisation’s capacity to deliver impactful youth and adult learning experiences.
How to Get Involved
We are inviting Member Organisations and Component Associations to identify up to four representatives (GAL Representatives) to participate in the consultation process. These individuals will share insights, contribute feedback, and help shape the next stage of the Growing and Learning framework.
Who should be nominated, the GAL Representatives should:
Be active members of volunteers or staff within your organisation
Hold leading or coordinating roles directly related to the delivery of youth programmes or adult training (e.g., Training Coordinator, Training Commissioner, Youth Programme Manager/Coordinator, Youth Development Commissioner, Branch Commission, etc.)
Be available to participate in consultations between November 2025 and May 2026
Be willing to review documents and provide feedback throughout the process.
